RB Leipzig's Dani Olmo latest injury news: Update and recovery timeline

RB Leipzig's forward, Dani Olmo, has suffered an ankle injury that could keep him out for up to three months.

The Argentine forward was substituted in the second half of RB Leipzig's match against Union Berlin on Sunday after appearing to twist his ankle during a challenge from Union defender Radoslaw Szoboszlai.

Olmo underwent scans at the end of the game which revealed he had sustained an ankle sprain.

After the match, Leipzig manager Oliver Glasner confirmed that Olmo would be out for "up to two weeks", but that it was too early to say how long he would be out for.

Olmo is currently on international duty with Argentina, having recently been called up by coach Lionel Scaloni for the Copa America tournament in Brazil.

If he misses more than two weeks of action,La Liga Stadium he will likely miss the group stage matches of the tournament, as well as any potential knockout rounds.

In the meantime, Leipzig will need to find a replacement for Olmo in their attack, with the club already looking towards signing new signings in January.

Olmo has made 48 appearances for RB Leipzig since joining from Real Madrid in August 2019, scoring 26 goals and providing eight assists. He is widely regarded as one of the best young forwards in Europe, and his absence will undoubtedly be a blow to the team.
